A terrorist has tried to blow up the New York subway system on early Monday, but, CNN hosts and correspondents have been obsessing all day long over President Donald Trump’s love of junk food and his habit of drinking as many as 12 Diet Cokes a Day.
“President Trump reportedly drinks up to 12 Diet Cokes a day. Is that good?” CNN host Chris Cuomo has asked on Tuesday. “I mean, I guess it is better than regular Coke.” “Is it?” co-host Alisyn Camerota added, struggling to stifle her laughter throughout the segment.
Cuomo and Camerota then brought in CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta to discuss the dangers of drinking 12 Diet Cokes a day while loving Big Macs and chocolate shakes.
Because CNN felt that the Times story on Trump’s diet deserved extensive coverage on these eventful two days, it fielded criticism and mockery. “Astonishing how quickly CNN has pivoted from the NYC explosion to some ridiculous story about Trump drinking a lot of Diet Coke #FactsFirst,” Rich Noyes, Media Research Center’s research director, has tweeted on Monday.
